CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

      A.     Background

Reading is a complex activity which needs a substantial action concerning deep understanding, imagination, observation, and memory (Abdurrahman, 2003:200). Reading skill is one of the important things we have to know in order to communicate excellently.  Someone acquires knowledge by reading. Thus, reading can augment our knowledge to answer a challenging future.

As a teacher, we should be able to improve skills, such as reading, listening, writing, speaking, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. However, in this paper, we will discuss focusing on “The development of reading skill test”.

     B.      Problem formulation

Under the title of paper that has been described in the above background, The Development of Reading Skill Test, the author will address three main points in order to easy :

1.    What kinds of reading skills are there?

2.    What types of test are suitable in testing reading skills?

3.    What questions are commonly used in testing reading skills?

      C.      The Purposes of paper

1.    To know kinds of reading skills.

2.    To know types of test that suitable in testing reading skills.

3.    To know the common questions in reading test.

      D.     Purpose Paper

            To give you an explanation, especially to writers and readers in general about reading skills, types of test in testing reading skills, and the commonly questions in reading test skills.
